Lent Week 4
Opening Prayer
"Let us take refuge like deer beside the fountain of waters. Let our soul thirst, as David thirsted, for the fountain. What is the fountain? Listen to David: “With you is the fountain of life.” Let my soul say to this fountain: “When shall I come and see you face to face?” For the fountain is God himself.” Ambrose (born in Germany, Bishop of Milian, 4th Century)
[from Ancient Christian Devotional. edited by T.C. Oden. 2009. IVP Books]
Meditate on the Psalms
Last Sunday’s call to worship was Psalm 32.
Next Sunday’s call to worship will be Psalm 126.
You might also want to consider Psalm 51 and 85.
Growing in Grace: Pondering 2 Corinthians 3-6
Closing Prayer
"Almighty God, give us wisdom to perceive you, intelligence to understand you, diligence to seek you, patience to wait for you, vision to behold you, a heart to meditate upon you, a life to proclaim you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and for ever.” Saint Benedict (Italy, 6th Century)

Growing in Grace: Pondering 2 Corinthians 3-6
- Just remind yourself, to whom extraordinary power belongs (2 Corinthians 4.7 pst…it’s God, not you).
- To be human is to experience being weak and God being strong. Give praise and account the the ways the Lord has met you in your weakness and been your strength, helper, and deliverer (2 Corinthians 4.7-12).
- Throughout your day listen to the Holy Spirit to hear if He leads you to speak of the hope and grace to lead others to thanksgiving and glorify God (2 Corinthians 4.13-15).
- In our troubles on this side of eternity how is God renewing you as you grow in grace (2 Corinthians 4.16-18)?
